Professional Profile - Michael H. Hewitt

Legal Experience

Michael H. Hewitt joins Dillingham & Murphy after serving as a Legal Research Attorney to the Honorable John K. Stewart, Presiding Judge of the San Francisco Superior Court.  During his time at the Court, Michael gained valuable experience assisting a variety of different judges and departments, including the Complex Civil Housing and Law and Motion departments. 

Michael now provides support on General Litigation defense cases, as well as legal counseling to various business and individual clients, ranging from healthcare to automotive services.  Michael’s practice also focuses on Intellectual Property matters, including trademark prosecution on behalf of start-ups and small businesses. 

Michael graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2015 with an Honors Certificate in Intellectual Property Law.  While at USF, Michael served as the President of the Student Bar Association, and was a staff member on both the USF Law Review and the USF Intellectual Property Bulletin.  Michael also served as the President of the Environmental Law Society and was a participant in the Giles Rich Moot Court Competition. 

Most notably, Michael served as a USPTO-certified law student clinician with the USF Intellectual Property and Internet Justice Clinic, assisting pro bono clients in protecting their products and services through comprehensive brand protection strategies at early-stage development of their respective companies.  

Michael remains active in various local legal organizations, and continues to provide mentoring to current and future law students as a member of the USF Environmental Law Student and Alumni Society, which he helped co-found.
